This years ride was a success!!! We will be posting more about the ride this week along with some photos.
Hello Folks,Today is July 22, 2013. Everything is all set and it is shaping up to be a very enjoyable and unique ride this year! The ride will be through several small towns and from what I hear they're rolling out the red carpet for us! It is my hope to see each and every one of you there this year. Once this event is completed we will be looking at 2014 ride! In the meantime I hope all of you are well and we hope to see you all there!
Starting date is August 3 (Staging starts at 8:30am and Depart at 10:30am) at the Michigan Vietnam Veterans Memorial East of Hall of Justice, between Allegan & Ottowa Streets, Lansing, MI -- > You need to enter off of MLK (Martin Luther King blvd) on to West Allegan Street because this is a one-way street.
The ride will begin at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Lansing just like it did in 2011. The first part of the route is yet to be determined by the local law enforcement. They are determining the route from the Vietnam Veterans Memorial to Grand River once we get closer to the start day. This is based on seasonal construction routes.
Here is how it will go from Grand River:
We go west on Grand River through Portland to Divine Hwy. We go North on Divine Hwy to Kimball Road. We go West on Kimball Road which becomes East Bride Street. We follow this through Lyons and Bridge Street will turn into Libhart Street for a short distance going south on Keefer. We then turn West on David Hwy cross 66 and follow David Hwy into Saranc. We turn left on Bridge Street the west on Riverside Drive will turn into Grand River SE where we will make a hard left and follow that too M50 Then we will go North (Segwun Ave SE). We will take this to Bowes Street SE and go West (Left) following to the West Side of Lowell were we pickup M21 again.
We turn Right on M21 (East) back into Lowell and turn Left into the Show Boat Area where parking will be provided in several lots to accommodate everyone. The ride is approximately 62 miles give or take a few. Some local law enforcement has been contacted with very positive results and this will again be a completely police escorted event with the Lansing Police Department riding the full route with us.

We are are volunteers for the Michigan Vietnam Legacy Ride we where unable to put one together this year. Certain things do prevent us from accomplishing our goals from time to time; so we adjust and move forward. We do want to thank everyone in the past that has given their time in setting up this event.
We hope next year you will want to continue supporting this event. Thank you, and God Bless to all of our Veterans, volunteers , and people that help!
For all of you that have enjoyed the Vietnam Legacy Ride we are asking for some help financially for the 2014 ride next year. Anything you can do would help. This 2013 ride cost $2300.00 to put on and Doran has taken the hard hit for our riders to enjoy. We are asking for help because Doran will not be able to handle this type of financial burden next year. We would like to continue giving thanks to our Vietnam Vets and all military personal, so please give what you can to make next year’s ride possible. We have an opportunity to end up in Ionia Michigan next year at the fairgrounds. Talks are in the works but funds are needed. Thank you,
